The AS1X Retrievable Packer is a sophisticated double-grip production packer designed for retrievability. Its versatile setting mechanism allows for both compression and tension-set installations, providing operational flexibility. Once in place, the packer can be maintained in tension, compression, or a neutral position, adapting to various wellbore conditions. A key feature of the AS1X is its bidirectional pressure-holding capability, effectively managing pressure differentials from both above and below.

①Innovative Internal Bypass System: This design significantly mitigates the swabbing effect – a common challenge during run-in and retrieval operations. The bypass remains open during these phases, allowing for smooth movement within the wellbore. Upon setting the packer, this bypass automatically closes, ensuring proper sealing and pressure isolation.

②Pressure Equalization Mechanism: Safety and efficiency in packer retrieval are enhanced by the AS1X's pressure equalization system. During the release process, the internal bypass channel opens first. Operation Instructions

Running:

• Run packer to setting depth.
• Pick-up on the tubing and rotate 1/4 turn to the right at the packer.
• Lower tubing to engage slips, release right-hand torque while moving tubing downward. (Tubing must be able to rotate back to the left at packer to lock into set position.)
• Continue to set weight on packer to pack-off elements.
• After setting weight on packer, pick-up on tubing and pull tension in packer to engage upper slips and complete element pack-off.
• Repeat setting weight and pulling tension two to three times before landing tubing.
• AS1X Retrievable Packer may be landed in compression, tension or neutral position.

 

 

Retrieving:

• The releasing procedures are the same whether the packer has been tension or compression set.
• Set-down weight (normally 1,000 lbs. is sufficient) on the packer and rotate the tubing 1/4 turn right at the packer, then pick-up holding the right-hand torque.
• The internal by-pass will open, allowing pressure to equalize.
• Further pick- up releases the releasing sequential slip system, relaxing the elements, allowing the packer to be removed from the well.
• The packer can be moved and reset without tripping the pipe if the elastomers have not been permanently altered from the well environment.

 

①Temperature Rating:

This indicates the range of temperatures in which the AS1X Retrievable Packer can operate effectively. The packer is designed to function in three different temperature ranges:

- ≤120℃ (Low temperature range)

- 120℃-170℃ (Medium temperature range)

- 170℃-204℃ (High temperature range)

This wide temperature range allows the packer to be used in various well conditions, from relatively cool to very hot environments. The ability to operate at temperatures up to 204℃ (approximately 400°F) makes it suitable for many high-temperature well applications.

②Casing Grade Range:

This specification describes the types and strengths of casings that the AS1X Retrievable Packer is compatible with:

- ≤Q125: This indicates that the packer can be used in casings with grades up to and including Q125. Q125 is a high-strength casing grade often used in demanding well environments.
