1.Slip type

①Structure of the Slip-Type Hanger:

The slip-type hanger mainly consists of slip segments (divided into four equal parts), slip seats (divided into two equal parts), rubber seals (divided into two equal parts), and support seats (divided into two equal parts).

 

②Working Principle of the Slip-Type Hanger:

The slip-type hanger, assembled from two halves, is clamped around the casing and then lowered into the casing head bore. The slip segments tightly grip the casing, and due to the weight of the casing and the taper of the slip segments, the slips wedge more tightly, increasing the grip on the casing. The rubber seal elements, under the influence of gravity, deform to create a seal against the casing and the casing head body.

 

③Slip-Type Hanger

A.WE-Type

Generally, the WE-type slip-type hanger is used in the surface casing. Its characteristics include: larger size, with lower seal ring pressure (compared to the W-type). Another scenario is when the casing is cemented in place and cannot be raised or lowered (this is a prerequisite for the W-type hanger), the WE-type can be installed with a passive sealing mechanism (the casing remains stationary, while the hanger's sealing is activated by manual operation, not by weight), providing a remedial solution. If weight and sealing factors are not strictly considered, WE-type hangers of the same size and from the same manufacturer are generally interchangeable with W-type hangers.

B.W-Type

Compared to the WE-type, it relies on the drilling string's weight to activate the sealing mechanism. Its features include: the highest hanging capacity, better sealing, and more reliable, generally used for the suspension of technical casing.

C.WD-Type Hanger

This type is only used with surface casing heads, connecting to the lower part of the surface casing.

 

2.Mandrel type Casing Hanger

Mandrel-type (also known as threaded) hanger acts as a casing coupling, eliminating the need to cut the casing (which is required for types W and WE), saving effort and allowing for casing suspension without even opening the blowout preventer, resolving wellhead suspension and sealing issues. However, it is necessary to calculate the depth of the casing to be run in to avoid bottom contact. Typically used in more stable production wells. Generally, the mandrel-type (threaded) hanger is used in conjunction with a threaded casing head, and can also be replaced with the corresponding slip-type hanger if needed. The sealing principle of the casing head with metal and rubber seals for the mandrel hanger is the same as that of the tubing head with metal and rubber seals for the mandrel hanger.
