Work Principles
①Support and Suspension: The primary function of a Casing Spool is to support and suspend additional casing strings within the wellbore. It bears the weight of the casing string hanging below it, transferring this load to the wellhead structure.
②Pressure Containment:
It creates a pressure barrier between the inner bore (where the casing hangs) and the external environment, maintaining pressure integrity, containing wellbore pressures, and preventing leaks.
③Annulus Management: The spool provides access to and manages the annular space between different casing strings. It allows for monitoring and control of pressures in these annular spaces.
④Casing Hanger Interface: It houses the casing hanger, which is the component that directly supports the casing string, and provides a landing shoulder or seat for the casing hanger to rest on and seal against.
